Good Bye California

Travel tip: Bring an empty water bottle to the airport and have it filled after the security checkpoint.

After countless hours of sleeping on airplanes, I've finally invested those neck pillows for my travels. Currently I'm at the start of my traveling journey to NY, and when I say a journey, I really mean it!

I'll have stopovers at Seattle, Milwaukee and then finally touchdown in New York City. The perks of traveling on the cheap.

For now, I'm mentally preparing myself to knock out quick on the plane.

Dear blog,

Countdown until New York: 19 days.
I haven’t packed, nor do I have the time to.

Extended break.

Cheers to being sick!

Break was technically supposed to end for me yesterday, but I decided to take an illness day off and stayed home. I just couldn’t do a total of six hours worth of classes with the sickness I had yesterday. Today is my first official day back, and I feel more refreshed than ever.

During my sick day off, I decided to indulge in a all fruit smoothie. I threw in frozen strawberries and peaches and a whole banana and shared with the whole family. But I also mixed a vitamin C packet in my portion so I can get better sooner.

To motivate me to finish this second half of the semester strong, I feel like I need to have a mini countdown towards the day I leave for the east coast. 54 days until I leave! It feels like forever, but I know the day will come very soon. Must start researching things I have to do and see, and of course eat! Send any recommendations my way, I’m willing to try new things!

SB 2013

Sneak peek from the photo shoot.

Welcome back to blogosphere!” said no one ever.

Spring break is coming to an end, and I also got my computer fixed and reformatted! Sounds like the only spring-cleaning I need to do…only kidding. I think my biggest secret is that I’m a neat freak when it comes to school, but my room will always remain a mess. And I have people to vouch for my messiness.

Spring break, something I thought I would never have again post college, but I’m happy to enjoy it once more before the real world takes over. This week has been filled of both eventful and slow days. My main highlights are, having a photo-shoot with me being the model (never did I think that this would happen), watching the preseason game of A’s vs. Giants, and seeing the three babies in my life; Noah, Emily and Sara.

Where have I been with my career life? I had another interview, not that I am actively looking for jobs now, but it went great! I’m always so nervous when it comes to interviews, but this one made me feel so great and knowledgeable about the company, what I love to do, and myself.

Other than jobs, and the break from school, I haven’t kept up with my goals and resolutions as shared. I haven’t done any reading, nor writing of my ~guidebook~ all week, but I did think about things I was interested in researching up on.

Now that my week is over, I’m rushing to finish up those assignments that are due this week. Yay procrastination!

I'm a creep.

People watching, one of my favorite activities. There's just so much to see, with the movements, the clothing, and interactions people have with each other. Current sitting inside a Starbucks, enjoying my tea while observing outside the intersection of 4th and Mission.

The city worker is wearing an obnoxiously neon vest, but I'm digging it.
The speed of a local is faster than a tourist.
How can you tell a tourist? Lost and confused with a map.
San Francisco, the city of layers. And long coats with workout wear.
My average count for colors vs. dark chromatic colors, 1:10. As they say, black tends to live in urban cities while color is suburban.
Black jackets, black pants, black boots.
Is that guy wearing popcorn as a necklace? Wait, it's just seashells.
Little girls in baby Uggs are adorable, I said it...adorable.
There is a leash less dog obediently following his owner, I'm impressed.
I hope it doesn't start raining again, I forgot to bring an umbrella again.
The first bright yellow taxi Prius hybrid sighted, sounds like a smart choice.
I would never own a purse dog, maybe a purse cat though.

Enough of being a creep, I'm off to class now. Even though I should of spent this precious half hour studying instead.

WC -> EC

Me and Adrianne in New York City, 2009.

While battling my last few midterms (3 this week!), I’ve finally made the most life changing choice of my life. I’ve moved across the state before, but now I’m moving across the country (for the summer)! East coast, I’m coming for you! This is kind of surreal because its one of my dreams to live on the east coast, and experience the life as a New Yorker versus a tourist. Another inspiration for making the move is one of my best friends Adrianne, moving all the way across the globe to down under Australia FOR A YEAR! (See her blog HERE)

Something fun and new to look forward to, and countdown begins: roughly 10 weeks.

Off to cram some studying!

What am I, an author?

Goals goals goals, I never really make them because I tend to do things that I 'need' to do and not so much things that I 'want' to do. This brilliant idea dawned on me today of this idea of writing a book (or more like a personal guide) with an emphasis on fashion.

Similar to the idea of graduate school, grad students will spend months and months researching on their topic of expertise. Then they write this wonderful dissertation that gets published and they become famous. (Hopefully I can come up with something mind blowing and genius, so teachers will quote/look up to me many years from now.) I'm taking this as an inspiration to research and write myself a guidebook that I can refer back to in the future. And how cool is it to say, "I wrote a book" to someone you just met. Not only does it make me look smart, but also my credentials shoot up.

Once I complete my research and write my guidebook, I'll become a expert in the topic(s) that I choose. Now I’m just piling more and more things on my plate, but that’s what life is (both figuratively and literally). Time to get writing, or studying…it is midterm season after all.

P.S. If anyone was wondering how my new years resolution is going, its going good. Except I'm reading school books rather than leisure books.

February Recap

I’m still here! I haven’t fallen off the surface of earth just yet! Seeing that it’s almost March already, I haven’t been sticking to this blogging loop just yet. Blogging is just another routine that I have to slowly into my weekly schedule. Even though its been a while, I’ve actually been updating this once a week!

February, the early part of the new year that doesn’t feel brand new nor dreading for time to pass. All I want is more hours in the day! February was both eventful and exhausting, and it isn’t even over! This coming Thursday and Friday, I’m going to be helping backstage at one of San Francisco’s biggest fashion show. The Junior League of San Francisco will be hosting a weekend full of shopping, fashion and food. What I love the most about being backstage during fashion shows is being surrounded in the industry and the adrenaline of needing to finish a look with a matter of minutes or even seconds. (But sitting in the audience watching the show is just as exciting!) For more info about the JLSF fashion show, click here. (Although the tickets are kind of on the steep side.)

February in a nutshell:

Two Gallants playing at The Fillmore / Wearing all red for the Superbowl
Wedding mid month, which means getting my hair did and nails did / Chinese New Years
Celebrating Valentines Day with  BB Noah <3 / Food Trip to SoCal, ALL THE GOOD FOODS

Phone Post: Food Trip 2013

Currently in Southern California for a food trip with my cousins and sister. We're all big foodies and decided to take this long weekend off to relax, eat and enjoy each other's company.

After being a 'SoCal' resident for quite some time, the thing I miss most is the weather! It's quite a change from the San Francisco 50's to the Los Angeles 80's, but I loved it. Also along with the amazing view of arts and people to look at. Speaking of people watching, I bumped into Tyler the Creator from OFWGKTA at Fairfax.

Back to enjoying my mini vacation now, hope everyone has a fun and safe long weekend!

Year of the Snake

My sister and I at last night's festivities!

Happy Lunar New Years! Its kind of exciting because I get to celebrate two New Years each year. The first is with a lot of friends and booze, while the second (lunar) New Years with family and food. Superstition also has a play in Lunar New Years, and its fun trying to follow along. Some of the ones I do follow are, not washing my hair or taking the trash out today. It’s supposed to mean that we're not washing or throwing away good luck for the year. I’m ready for all the good luck to come my way! And happy snake year to all!

Overthrown

Photo taken at The Legion of Honor, SF.

I’m finally coming clean and admitting that I’m currently being kicked in the butt by school. I can’t tell if its senioritis hitting me again for the third time, know that summer is coming and I’m excited for many exciting adventures, or the ease of the classes I’m currently taking. I’ve never been this behind, rushing assignments day of the due date, nor is the information hard and complicated (although I’ve been good working under pressure before). Come to think of it, it might even be the ‘free time’ that I think I have but I end up investing it all on watching Netflix. (P.S. Grey’s Anatomy is emotionally draining, and I can’t get myself to do anything else.)

I'm coming to a conclusion that I need to reorganize my life, get things done, and get a job! (Update on that: My employment has been terminated as of Jan 30 due to the closure of the store. Good-bye sweet sweet discount.)

Things to start focusing on; 1) School 2) Career 3) Saving monies for summer 4) Life in general

hello february!

Window Display of Louis Vuitton, located inside Bloomingdales SF.

I woke up this morning realizing that it was already February. Where did my month go? As a look back on my month, so much has happened.
  • 2013 happened! Brand new year, for brand new things and opportunities.
  • Spring semester started, and I love every class I’m taking.
  • I’ve laid low for a good week and a half; due to some type of sickness I’ve caught. That and I’ve had the dry cough for the first time ever, worst thing ever!
  • Attended my first big girl conference with Association of Image Consultant International (AICI), which I have yet to make a post about.
  •  The Gap store I’ve been working at for the past 9 months has finally closed down, but hopefully I get to transfer to another location.

I've decided to post the window display photo for LV because I've taken interest in all shopping retail windows, partly due to my past Visual Merchandising class. Its given me a different look on how stores display their windows as a sales tactic, and if I love them enough I snap a photo.
Taken directly from Arcadia's blog

Also, my visual merchandising/styling lecturer Arcadia Maximo recently featured a classmate and myself on her blog post! I was delighted to see my face as I browsed the blogs I read daily, so that was exciting.

Lets hope for more exciting things to happen this month.
